The world changed in 2030, when Swedish scientists discovered the fountain of youth-a vaccine capable of halting and reversing aging. Five years later, a youthful Larry King sits down with a superstar for an interview that he-and the world-will never forget.
Larry thinks he's about to interview an action hero who knew Elvis Presley. Expectations are high, as it's widely speculated that his guest plans to run for the presidency of the United States. Instead, on the hundredth anniversary of Elvis's birth, Larry's guest reveals that the celebrated rocker is alive and is in fact sitting across from Larry.
What follows is a story deeply seated in conspiracy theory lore-a tale that ties Elvis's "death" to Richard Nixon, comedian Andy Kaufman, and one of America's most recognizable actors, as well as to the Illuminati and the UFO sighting in Roswell, New Mexico. Everybody thought the creation of an antiaging vaccine was the most amazing event of the last century. They were wrong.
The King Is Dead, Long Live the King revels in exploring a United States where nothing is as it seems. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally time for the King's encore.
A graduate of Wells High School in Chicago, Karl L. Barnett holds an associate's degree in applied science and was certified as a heavy equipment operator in Deer Lake, Pennsylvania.
Barnett spent his early career in the mining industry and acquired his surface mine foreman's license from the Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals. He worked as a senior mine inspector, a safety director, a coal buyer, and reclamation director. After moving to Asheville, North Carolina, he spent twenty-six years as the maintenance supervisor for the Meadows apartments.
Now retired, Barnett has written and copyrighted numerous songs and the commercial used in The King Is Dead, Long Live the King! He also holds two US patents.
