Abe McCord and Russell Hopfield, the elder gentlemen, are always at odds with one another. Each one accusing the other of stealing their cattle. The older boys like their fathers have squabbles and often fight with each other as well. The problem exists because the McCord's youngest son is sweet on the Hopfield's daughter Belinda with both being nearly the same age. Contrary to their father's differences these two young adults continue to secretly meet one another behind their parents' backs.
