Epictetus was a Greek philosopher who lived in the first century AD and taught a philosophy known as Stoicism. The Golden Sayings is a collection of his most memorable and insightful teachings, presented as aphorisms or short maxims. In these sayings, Epictetus expounds on the virtues of self-mastery, inner peace, and detachment from material goods. Although he lived two thousand years ago, his wisdom remains relevant today, and his influence can be felt in the works of later philosophers like Marcus Aurelius and Michel de Montaigne. This book is a great introduction to Stoicism and to one of its most eloquent proponents.
