About the Author
JAMES MERSMANN grew up on a small Kansas farm. He is a Marine Corps veteran, has taught on a Fulbright Fellowship at the Federal University at Rio de Janeiro, and spent more than twenty-five years teaching writing and poetry at University of Alabama-Birmingham.. Though recently retired Emeritus, he has won awards five times for excellence in classroom teaching. He has previously published poems in journals, as well as three books: Out of the Vietnam Vortex, The Isis Poems, and a monograph, Allen Ginsberg.
