The purpose of this pamphlet is to educate the reader in the area of bullying behavior. Normally when people say bullying, they think of four types of participants. They are the bully, the victim, the follower, and the bystander. My assemblies place the greatest emphasis on participant number five, the leader. A leader is a person who quits being a bystander and performs an act of love for the victim. I have discovered from the students' letters as well as statements at the end of the assemblies that the only way bullying behavior is reduced or even eliminated is when the bystanders don't want it in their schools.
As you read this pamphlet, picture yourself in your school auditorium. You are between 10 and 15 years old and one of the types of bully participants in every school. Are you a bully, a follower, a bystander, or a victim? I am making the assumption that the odds are great that you are not a leader.
I was bullied in middle school. My story is captured in the pamphlet. I still remember being bullied like it happened yesterday. The pamphlet also shows the story of my son Curt being bullied in elementary and middle school. Perhaps these stories will remind you of the times spent in school.
