ABOUT THE AUTHOR Victor Sheymov is a computer security expert, author, scientist, inventor, and holder of multiple patents for methods and systems in cyber security. He was responsible for coordination of all security aspects of Russian cipher communications with its outposts abroad when he was exfiltrated with his wife and daughter by the CIA in 1980. He worked for the National Security Agency for a number of years and is a recipient of several prestigious awards in intelligence and security. Victor Sheymov is also the author of TOWER OF SECRETS: A Real Life Spy Thriller. This memoir describes how Sheymov, ace troubleshooter for the KGB super-secret Eighth Chief Directorate, operating out of the infamous Lubyanka Moscow Center, was head of security for cipher communications worldwide, and thus had a rare knowledge of the entire KGB system. These two spaces are so different that methods effective in one do not necessarily work in the other. Our physical space security methods are generally static.
