As the novel opens, FBI Special Agent Rick Clark is struggling to recover from the death of his only daughter, followed by a divorce from his wife of twenty years. His mission is to track down the leaders of a domestic terrorist group allegedly committed to changing the political landscape. The group claims that "real change" occurs only when it is preceded by acts of violence, violence that clearly and tangibly demonstrates the urgent need for reform. To this end, EMMA targets CEOs of major corporations responsible for crimes against humanity.
Under Agent Clark's radar is Brent Cossack, a disillusioned, former black ops officer who has decided to join EMMA's group of militant anarchists. Brent's reasons are both political and personal. For sure, he is no renegade black-ops commando gone bonkers. His motives for joining the terrorist group run deep. Crushed by his experiences as a clandestine officer in Iraq, he returned home and fell in love with a beautiful political activist, while trying his best to put his harrowing past behind him. Everything seemed just fine, until a terrible event in the young couple's lives pushed him over the edge.
More than a political thriller, EMMA is a novel about love and loss as well as an indictment of a democratic society that seems to become less so each day.
