Water resources of portions of the North Platte River basin are designated as being over-appropriated by the State of Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (DNR). An over-appropriated basin designation means that the existing demand on the surface and hydrologically connected groundwater resources are greater than the supply, resulting in decreased surface-water flows and water-table levels.
