About the Author Beatnik Dan: I originally began writing this book in 1995 while working as a Teacher's Assistant for grades K-1. The curriculum was based around Apples. I noticed at the time, many reading sources for this subject were limited and not very engaging for the young pupils. I've always loved Dr. Seuss, so I decided to try my hand at writing a children's book. I have always enjoyed creative writing and it gave me a creative outlet. I finished the story (so I thought) about a month later. During that time I came up with rough concepts for illustrations. Not long after I married my lovely wife and I decided I needed to grow up and work in the "big city"...needless to say my book was put on hold. Soon I suffered from health problems. It was a hard time. I was forced to find an alternate form of work. I decided to work as a graphic designer since I did that for three years in high school and I majored in Marketing in college. This helped me to be creative once more. I always intended on finishing this book. So in 2013 I finished the story. Unfortunately I had no illustrations, so I searched online and found Steph. He helped bring my story to life. Now I am bringing it to you and your child. Some may ask about my pen name Beatnik Dan. It is a nick name I acquired for my deep love of coffee. My friends also say I kind of march to my own beat. So the name stuck. I'm just a coffee loving cool cat creating my own path. -Beatnik Dan
